I was removing the hippo tank and he splashed the light fixture. The glass blew up all over my tank and then i wnet to lowes and they cut me a new piece of glass to insert into my light. So i put it in and about 10 minutes ago when the lights when on the new glass blew up. It was only about a 1/8 thinner. Do i need some kind of special glass, or is the thickness everything. I know icant run the hqi for too long without glass. I need to rectify this problem right away. Thanks

So the thickness is a factor. I guess i should get two pieces of glass with uv block to do it right the first time. Any recommdations for longmont or boulder for glass shop.

I wouldnt run the HQI without the lens at all. I tried this out on a show tank and a 6 foot Aquaspace light fixture. The corals looked amazing for about 30 mins and then started to slime, and fade out. Within the hour things had drastically gone downhill, and noticeable damage had been done to the corals. So be very careful running the lamps without the UV blocking lens.
