iv'e decided to upgrade my 95 gallon tank to a 210 gallon tank
i was thinking about the lights i want and i want to know what is the best t5/flourescent lighting with a good reputation

thanks for the help:D :D :D

The major difference between the two is that the Icecap balast in the second link will overdive the bulb. What this does is gives a boost to the output and intensity of the lights. However it comes at a cost of life of the bulbs. I've got the SLS T-5's over my tank (5x24w over a 29gal) and do pretty well with my SPS and I've got a clam in the rockwork about half way up. I do keep SPS frags on the sandbed, but only durring light aclimation stage I don't think they would do great down there with the exception of most montis. IMHO if you are wanting to keep SPS and clams at the sand bed the Icecap's are going to be needed on a tank that deep, and even then I'm really not sure. You're best bet would be to go into the SPS forum and ask for people who are currently doing a similar setup. And be prepared to get bombared with the question "Why not just use MH?"
Is there a reason to not use MH? I'm only asking because I've only seen a handfull of tanks that size with T-5's. A couple of them were the really nice with great color, but I think a lot them were also useing Zeo. setups.

T-5's for the whole tank or is it simply supplemental? For that many gallons, you should consider going halide. Don't get me wrong, T-5's are great at delivering a lot of light with little heat and power consumption (comparatively speaking). But how do you beat the natural look and SHIMMER of a halide? Just my thoughts. Good luck!

It's been a long time since I looked at the SLS vs IceCap T5's. But when I did search into it, more people liked the IceCap reflector than the SLS reflector. It's wasn't a huge difference. In my case, I didn't want to overdrive my bulbs for thre reason David explained. I ended up calling Reefgeek, and had them sell me a kit that was IceCap reflectors with the SLS ballast. :D

But I do agree with Wee-Reef Master. The shimmer of MH is awesome. But then you have to deal with a lot more heat during the summer.

Is your 210 the standard AGA 6' x 2' x 28"? If so you might want to consider what Wee-Reef Master advised and go with halides. That is a deep tank to try and penetrate with T5's. Also difficult to aquascape when all of your corals have to be near the top.
