Any of you with your large tanks using a light mover? How is it working out for you? If you have pictures of your set up I would love to see it. I'm thinking about getting a light mover for my 210 (7x2x2) Thanks

I am using the light mover on my 240g cube tank with lumenmax reflector. I like the set up alot as well as my SPS. Here is some pics hopefully it help. If you need further assistant, feel free to ask me Via PM.

For your tank i would go with 2x400w and lumenmax3 or lumenarc mini and 2x3.5f(light rail only comes with 3.5f or 5f long) rail and two 3.5rpm motors.

I lucke dout with my light mover. I wanted something that could move very slow. After tons of seaching I found one.
Here is the site. They are in the process of redoing things on the site so maybe that's why some pics didn't ocme up for me.
The thing that won me over was having a motor with an adjustable RPB speed.

Variable Speed Control w/
1 to 10 RPM Motor

Travel from 3 to 20 minutes down a 6' track.

I am going to have 2 ROIII over my 180. My light will be on the light mover AND a track system so I can pull them back from the tank for maintenance. Rasing them was not an option due to low ceilings.

I called them about problems with the site. They said it is down and they will have it back up soon. That is why you can only get to this page and not the home page.

Very nice setup!!! May I ask who made your tank?
TIA
HW

Hi Tia, My tank was made by Le-Mar, euro brace and polish glass.

Hi Sparkyreef, I can adjust the motor to pause at each end from 15sec-1min. I bough the 5RPM but it doesn't seem to move too fast for me :). ROIII is kind of small. Why don't you go with lumenmax2 DE? I have seen it in person, really nice spread and bright.

Sold4Jc, You'll be happy with the light mover. By the way, i just did some research, you can run two light on one motor with 6 foot rail. Shoot me an PM if you need any help with mount the rail into the ceiling or wall.

why do you need a light mover at all? two lum III's will cover 6 feet and dont need to move. I think each one will cover 3x3. There will be 6 inches then on each side, but with much less headache. Also why can't you do 250watters. 24 deep 250's are fine.

Your right that 2 lum III's will cover the area, but at increased heat and cost of bulb replacements and energy. Why is there a headache? He will have equal PUR distributed over a period of time and better morphological growth of the corals.

I'm working on one for my 400G 7' long tank. I'll be running 2 400W DE's set about 3 feet apart so that the motor will only travel about 3 feet and teh tank will still get good covarage.

Right now I have everything in a 200g holding tank with just one light on the mover and it seems to be working ok. I just don't like the fact that one end of the tank is dark while the other is lit up. That's why I'm going with the setup I described so that the whole tank will be lit all the time. Just a few darker spots at times but not completely dark.

Wow! 1000w huh!

at fist i saw your tank and wonder why the one pendant lit your tank so well....
after reading your tank bio...i know why :)

Nice work! And your tank looks great. :)

Thanks Alien9168. I plan to go with 2x400 side by side on light mover but i want to try the intense lighting. Work really well for me.
