Light over sump / fuge

I removed the bio (nitrate) balls from my wet / dry filter.
After adding a partition, new skimmer, and a cheap clip on light w/ a spot light bulb I added some live sand, chunks of live rock, and a ball of micro algae about the size of a softball and a few Red Mangrove shoots.

Here is my question. Is my light good enough to keep the plants alive?

if you are going to keep plants then you should follow the guide line for keeping those plants, if you mean macro algae then any light will do but it's better to keep them under higher light at least 65 watts to keep them from deteriorating and releasing phosphate and nutrients back in your tank

I keep my Cheato (Macro Algae) under a clip on desk lamp with one of the new energy efficient "curly que" type bulbs from Walmart. It's a 40w replacement bulb but only consumes about 13w of energy. The Cheato grows like MAD under it.

the cheato will grow better with a energy saver bulb with a rating of about 5500k.hd sells a bulb n:vision with that rating.the model # is esm27.

Yes, Its Cheato. I appreciate that MUCH. I will head to HD or WM and get a energy saver bulb today. Awesome the power of this forum is.
