light spectrum

I recently added a frag tank to my main system but have yet to put lights over it. it is a 40 gal breeder tank 36x18x18. I am leaning toward two 150w hqi's but I am not sure what kelvin rating is best for both fast growth and optimal color. Any suggestions?

14k is best for the combination of growth and color. Im running 150 watt 14k on my main setup and frag tank.

From what I've know about lighting, the lower the K the higher the par value and thats what make stuff grow. I;m no sure why that is though. If I was looking for purely the highest growth rate I would run 10,000 k.

from what I have read 6500k is for fastest growth and anything over 10k is for color
