Lightening display - Flaming scallops

This is weird. Can anyone explain this phenonimum?

I recently put a couple of flaming scallops in my tank. Today after adding DT phytoplankton and later some cyclopeeze, I noticed what I can only explain as some type of chemical reaction within the scallop. Within a portion of the fleshy matter I'm seeing a faint blue lightening display taking place. It's almost like watching one of those static discharge elements and it's been going on now for the past 10 minutes and is still in progress.

Is this normal, good, bad or what?

:eek1:

i think this is perfectly normal for flaming scallops, every time i've seen them they always have bioluminescence going on

and btw, i think you should've posted this in the "Other Invertebrates" section

Yes that is normal for some. Ive heard it is some sort of flap they expose with slight bio-luminesence, also has some info on the in Inverts by Calfo and Fenner.
