Lighting a 55 gal

i have 3X 175W MH's on my 55 reef. the 2 outside lights are 20K and they are on for 12 hours a day and the middle on is 10K and comes on at 11AM and goes off at 5PM to simulate the midday sun. What do you think about that?

Yeah..I would like to know what everybody thinks about his setup too...I was thinking that I may get 2 250s and some PC...

I've got an Oddysea 2x175(10k) ,2 x 96w actinics ,6 LED moonlights off a company on E-bay for under $400 .It has legs or you can hang it and it works great.Never had a problem with it and i keep clams, acropora,LPS,pretty much whatever i want.

CRAIG

how do you run those lights(times)? also, do you have to worry about a chiller? what's the company's name? thanks

my actinics come on at 12:00 noon, halides on at 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm ,actinics off at 11:00 pm,moonlights & refugium lights on as actinics go off.I don't use a chiller.Iusually don't worry about temp too much( unless my wife forgets to cut the AC on before she leaves).I believe the company's name is aquariumlights. You can find them on E-bay.Iwas just there before i posted on your thread.Nice lights.Good luck.

yeah..i think so..I keep hearing mixed feelings about the T5s, and I know that MHs work as I have owned a few different ones

BTW if i had to buy an all in one fixture with t5 and metal halide i would look at the current seriously it looks like a nice fixture.

okay..yeah..i like current too, i have a couple finals to study for, but i'll look at them asap

okay..after seeing the t5s set up on the tanks, I'm beginning to lean towards them....I do have a question though..one person mentioned something about people needing to switch to MH b/c they'll save money...why?
