I run 14k Phoenix bulbs, they make em.

They make them in a 400 watt DE bulb?

So it seems like running 3 pendants will be the best choice. Since Pheonix doesn't have a 14K bulb, it looks like the XM 12 or 20 K's seem to look how I want them....nice crisp white/blue. Does anybody have any ballast/pendant recommendations? I've still been looking at the Lumenarc III Mini Stealth DE pendant, but I don't know if they can be ran with all types of ballasts and bulbs? Thanks.

I would think that with 6' of tank length, you'd want three reflectors if using 250W. I know someone with a 36" x 36" x 24" and he uses a single 400W L3 and loves it.

I'm in the same boat as you guys. I just ordered a 225, 72" x 30" x 24" from AFY. It should be ready in about three months, so I've got time to drive myself crazy with the details.

I plan on using three Lumenarc IIIs and 2-3 5' T5 actinics, all on IC ballasts. I've got a pair of L Minis for a 120 I'm now selling. But they may not cut it, so I'm going to sell the Minis too.

NUBIANTANGLOVER,

Nice tank and I love your avatar. My wife wants a PBT and so do I. But I REALLY want an Achilles.

His tank will be 30" deep. I'm not sure that 250's will provide enough light penetration for that depth. IMO 250's would only work if the SPS were placed in the upper third of the tank. 400s would allow more flexibility for SPS placement within that 30" area.

Guys,
I am ordering a 72x30x26 , 240 gallon from Glass Cages, I currently have 2 250mh's. With the right reflectors, i.e lumenare or lumenbright can i get away with on 2 mh's and some T5 antics on a mixed LPS/SPS tank ?

30" in height? My tank is going to be 72" x 30" x 24" (L X W X H). I'm told that 250W is fine for 30" of depth (from front to back) and 24" in height. That's what I'm doing.

The tank will be 72 x 24 x 30 and will be SPS dominated. It is a Clarity Plus aquarium with two openings at the top

TooFly,

Sorry, I was responding regarding the depth of Buckeye's tank.

Thanks TOOFLY. BTW, what is a "PBT" I am a little slow.

I will be getting single ended bulbs. Does anybody know if there is a difference in the intensity of the lighting between SE bulbs and DE bulbs?
