Lighting Advise for 36 x 18 SPS

Hello All, been out of the game for some time and working on setting up a new tank that will be SPS focused. I'm looking for advise in terms of lighting. Would prefer a single light fixture and wanting the cleanest looking approach I can find. Most likely hanging will be my go to for mounting but open to a sleek looking back of tank mount. I've been awaiting the new ATI Straton X but wanted to get others opinions on what they recommend. I know ideally more than one light would be better, but I just haven't seen a multiple light set up that has the aesthetic I'm going for. Tank is 36" wide x 18" deep x 18" tall.

Welcome back to the hobby. I don't have a lot of experience with LEDs because I just recently switched to them from MH. That said, based on the attached from ATI's website, you'll likely have some shading on the ends of the tank.

Yeah, I noticed that also. My hope was going with a more negative space aqua scape and keeping it at 27" wide as I have in the photo I would be ok but I haven't been around any of this stuff in a long time. Reefscape Designs did an awesome job on the main tank aqua scape for me.

Yeah, awesome looking tank and scape. If you're going to leave the rock like it is, I think you'll be okay as well. You can always add another light if needed.

Please start a build thread so we can follow your progress.

Will do. Thank you! I'm awaiting all of the equipment to come in from GEO'S reef and then maybe I'll get a thread going. I'm sure I'll need all the help I can get from the modern day experienced crowd.

I love Geo equipment. I was good friends with the original owner who’s since retired. The current owner has done a great job keeping up with the quality.

I agree with @griss. If aesthetic is a deal breaker, I think you’re going to get the cleanest look from the ATI.

Some other options, though I don’t know what look you prefer is the Maxspect Razor and ReefBreeders Meridian.

I would look at a Hybrid, adding two 36” T5, one 460nm the other a 420nm to whatever you chose in LED, if your going stick dominant.

While LED shows corals best, you can’t beat T5 on sticks.
