LIGHTING an AGA210

Hello,

I am setting up lighting for my AGA210. My LFS is doing it for me, but I want to know what would be the best to go with. I have been quoted for the following:

1 x 400w Mogul Based MH w/ Blue Wave Ballast (20000K bulbs)
2 x 250w Mogul Based MH w/ Blue Wave Ballast (20000K bulbs)
6 x 96w PC Actinics w/ Ballasts
12 x LED Moonlights

and everything else needed for $2100.



Would 3 x 250HQI MHs be a better option, such as this 1134w unit (considering the price)? http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod_Display.cfm?pcatid=12113&N=2004+113352

the 3 250w HQI would be much better due to the height of the tank. What are you planning to keep?

I have a 220 and I am running 3-PFO 400w 10000k MH
1-400 watt Dual pluse start Metal Halide Ballast ($200)
1-400 watt pluse start Metal Halide Ballast ($120.)
3-PFO Horizontal Pendant - Mogule Socket ($110.ea.)
3-400W Mh bulbs (price dependant on what bulbs you choose.)
2- 160 watt Actinic Blue - VHOs ($160.+$60.for the bulbs)
So for about $850+ the price of your MH bulbs you can have a nice clean and powerful lighting system ready to grow just about anything.

I have a 210 (in-wall) and am running the following.
Three 250W Icecap ballasts
Three EVC tech (Ocean Encounter brand) 10KK bulbs
Three Mini Lumen Arc 3 reflectors
Two 6' VHO Actinic bulbs on an Icecap 660

Moonlighting is just two NO 4' flourescents mounted on the celing. They burn 24x7 - In your case I like the LED idea much better.

I see no reason that this setup could not be fitted into a hood.

I am not too concerned with keeping the SPS, I am going to go with the 3-250w HQI's. Thanks for your help, and NICE tanks.

If you ever are interested in SPS, the 250W HQI bulbs can and will grow them. They actually have more light output than the Moguls I'm using.
