Lighting and Powerbar

Can the 6 digital power bar turn on 3 250W icecap ballasts at different times without damaging the power bar? Thanks

In principle yes, but we recommend the use of the HIGH AMP power bar extension to take away the high loading from the Digital bars. This helps prolong the life of the power bars relays for many years, as the relays are not subject to high striking loads daily.

This also stops having all loads coming from one ring main socket in your home and spreading the load.

The issue is not with the ballast being used but how much current they draw on IN RUSH, some can strike at over 40amps!

So yes they can handle it but for good husbandry and many years of useage we recommend the HIGH AMP bars.

ALL good controller manufacturers now offer HIGH AMP bars due to modern ballasts and the striking rate.

it depends on the type of the powerbar

the newest version has 6 outputs with a cpacity of 15A each! (in sum also 15A, of course. This is the point for the expansion sockets)

for the older version you must ensure you use the inrush-current protected sockest
