Lighting Build

Does anyone know if there is a DIY build for lighting fixtures? I have a 10g tank and want to upgrade my lighting situation but my pocket isnt deep enough to buy a commercial product seeing as im still in school. Any cheap suggestions or instructions on how i can upgrade? All i have right now is 2x20" 15w T8 bulbs one actinic 420nm and the other a regular daylight dont know the specs.

Many people build there own canopy and retro the lights in there. But for a 10g tank, you should be able to find lights for under a hundred bux that will let you have anything in that tank. What price range do you have in mind?

i will peruse a few website and such to get a better idea of whats available.
