Lighting Change

I agree with Landon and Chad. I really don't know why you have such a negative self image about your tank. I don't know anybody who has seen it who thinks your corals look unhealthy or that your tank isn't really good. I think you need a long talk with Stuart Smalley

Thanks for the kind words Dave. I just have noticed a difference in my corals since the moved to Derek's tank and it made me wonder what the differences are. Can't a man try to better his sh!t? :D I'm just kidding. You know I am never happy with my tank. I always have to try something new. :D

I did have a phone conversation with Landon about this situation and the conclusion that we came to doesn't have anything to do with lighting. Actually Landon talked and I listened. :) About a week after my corals recovered, Derek started feeding them DT's Oyster Eggs. He did mention that they seemed to love it but I would have never thought that it would make them look so much better. The polyp extension on some of the corals have greatly increased and they are showing a slightly different color. To make a long story short, I am going to try to keep what I have "for now" and try using the Oyster eggs. I do have to buy new bulbs next month, so I may go to something else then but we"ll see.

I am going to get my corals tomorrow. Wish me luck!

What type of photo period should I run to get them used to the light again? (They are under 175s now)

Id do the VHOs the same and start the halides at like 2 hours a piece with the corals on the bottom. Slowly move the corals up, then start increasing by 15 minutes every few days (about an hour a week), until you get to your desired photperiod.
