lighting for 20gallon High

I'm interested to see what owners say also, but I thought it was interesting that you consider $250 "not expensive".

for my tank i used a retro 175w 15k xm with the magnetic balast. The ARO retro kit from www.hellolights.com i can grow sps from mid tank to the top, i recently added 2 T5 actinics to it as well

it's a ghetto made hood, basically looks like a table on top of my tank, it has 4 legs that keep it right on the lip of the tank. 3 sides are completely open and the front has a small 4 inch piece of wood hanging down to block the light a little but to still allow me to have my hands in/out of the tank and for matianece and what not

id also second a retrofit kit, thats what im going to do on my 29.

why not just get T5 retrofit on a 20 gallon since they make them in 24 inches itd be perfect.

I recently set up an 18g and went with the Sunlight Supply Reef Optix III $99, IceCap 150w electronic ballast $125 and 14k Phoenix bulb $60. Excellent set-up.

I don't wanna mess with the retro kits. I want something simple to clips on my tank and I can plug it in. Heres the tank with a blue FL and a white/pink FL on it.

if you get a 175w in a hood complete you will not pay less than 300 dollars for it, when you can make your own hood and screw a reflector/socket on to it and then just plug and play and be done...and it will cost you 100 bucks less.
