lighting for a bta?

It is a 55 gallon. There are 2 single strip lights and both have 40 watts on each light. One is has a blue tint and the other is a plain white bulb.

those are t12 tubes. in a short but blunt answer

NO..
and i dont mean NO
i mean NORMAL OUTPUT
you need a high output light system.
t5high output ( diffrent thatn t5 low output)
or metal halides
depending on the tank size power compacts ( its been done in the past before the days of t5s people flame on ..)

sorry i am not trying to take over your thread but i have my qt it is small cause i have no intent to get any large fish at all but if i get a bta would it live under 10,000k 15 watt the qt is only 4.5 gallons and the bta i want is about 2 inches in diameter it would only be in there until i get better lights on the "big" tank

Are you planning on keeping the BTA in that tank (( 4.5 gallons )) long term? If the answer is yes, then the odds are good that it won't work.

no only a month tops then it goes to the 55 i am going to get metal halides for the 55gallons and then the nem will be going in

why not just wait and get the proper light on a descent sized tank rather than trying to move and acclimate again after one month??

I agree, would be better off waiting. Besides the stress of moving it, the water parameters in such a small tank can/will change quickly, which will stress it out.
