I am setting up a 60 gal FIsh only tank, running a wetdry and a protein skimmer. Can anyone tell me what type or brands of light bulbs to use?

you dont need much for just fish. you can get away with the little fluorescent ones that are used on many freshwater tanks if you choose

Yes, lighting for fish is not a top priority. As stated, you can use basic flurescent lighting. Many of us rely upon upgraded lighting b/c we are housing reef specimens which require more lighting. This is one reason why reef keeping is more expensive b/c of the lighting requirements needed to keep many of the corals, clams, etc. As far as fish are concern, you can use the basic set-up, unless you have a certain lighting preference.

again you dont need much, but you could get some more interesting colors and variations from some power compacts but again the intensity is not needed

Do you have a canopy? If so go retrofit, if you dont u obviously need a fixture. I would recommend if you definitely are not going to go reef then go VHO or PC's. Get all actinic if you like the blue look. This looks great over FO tanks, I love the VHO actinics over a FO.

why waste the electricity for a Fish ONLY. just use normal t5's or normal output flourescents. Just get in color range you like.
personally, i like the coralife t5 S/w aqualight , its 1 10k and 1 actinic. And enough to grow softies if venture that direction.
