Lighting for FO

Alright i have my 180 FO and what i want to know is what kind of light can i use in my canopy? i only have 6" of clearance. so i need something slim. And cheap as possible. i had metal halides but they were not in the canopy and now i cannot have them so close to the water.

i was wondering what the difference between the aquarium t5 fixtures were and ones like this?:

I know it says not for aquarium use but what is the risk of splashing? could i get glass tops for the tank and mount that inside? does is burn differently or hotter than the aquarium style?

i need a way out and quick.

If you have a FO why are you using such high powered lights?

All you need is enough light to see the fish.

You could get a few of these t-5's (not High Output)

That's all you'd need. I have one on my 70 gallon FO and it's pretty brite.

home depot baby!! 9.99 for a dual 48 inch fixture and like 12 bucks for bulbs. thats what im putting in my shark tank. the great part is you can always get thows coralsun bulbs for them and it doesnt look half bad.

I'm still debating what to do on my tank..... I really wanna ditch my 2no. 250MH lamps (magnetic ballasts) and get soemthing mor economical to run - but I am afraid that I'm gonna hate a couple of T5's, when I am used to the MH's.....
