I recently bought a colony of what I believe to be Acropora loripes and placed it in my reef (75g tank lit by 6 54 watt t5ho bulbs in a Tek unit mounted on legs about 5 inches over the top of the tank which is coverless). I placed the coral about one third of the way down in the tank after a 90 minute drip acclimation. After 5 days the tops of its branches appear bleached. Only the tops. The coral came from a tank lit by LED.
Water parameters are good: 0 detectable ammonia, nitrite; Alk 8 dkh, calcium 420, salinity 1.025 and temp about 78F.
Have I "shocked" the coral? Does this sp. require lower lighting? Or is something else going on? Do you recommend moving it down or should I leave it where it is and let it adjust on its own?
