Lighting for my new aquarium

Hi, Recently I have begun to get together gear for setting up my new marine aquarium it is 35'' x 38" x 45". I am hoping to have clownfish and various types of other fish. I will also be wanting to keep soft and lps corals. Has anyone got any suggestions for lighting Preferably up to $200 as I am on a budget. Thanks

45" is deep. Depending on the coral type and depth you will have them placed your light decision/cost will become greater.

That is a strange sized tank. I come up with ~260g. Lighting will not be the only issue you have. IMHO, trying to find anything in your price range that will be adequate will be difficult. The fish won't care, but any corals, unless deep water, often NPS (non photosynthetic) will require a very powerful lighting system for the bottom 1/2 of the tank.

Strange shaped tank, I agree.

I think your only option under $200 is a pair of marsaqua or similar "black box" LEDs. If they are cranked all the way up, you shouldn't have trouble keeping LPS and softies.

Hi, Sorry I meant 35" long, 15" Wide, 18" deep. I work with Cm here in New Zealand so I messed up. Thanks

Well. That changes things a little:lolspin:

Any of the "black box" lights from china will work just fine for anything you might want to keep.

I have been using VISPARSPECTRA 165w LED for 15 months now and happy with performance and price....

Would I need two of the VISPARSPECTRA 165w LED lights for my tank?

I also have Viparspectra led. You could get away with one, although less coverage will be provided. They come w/ 90 and 120 degree lenses. Coral placement and scape if kept centered and tight to the middle, one should support soft and LPS. Two would be ideal though.

They advertise for a 24"x24" area if I'm not mistaken.

Ron seems to have a good match in your price range...i had to go for 2 cause they won't ship the 32 to Canada....huh?....that's not nice.

Anyways, I have had great success with this light so far....really quiet....can't even tell theirs a fan....what it does not have is a software program for colour mixing, thunderstorms, sunrise,sunset.....but I don't think my corals care....they just want light...
