Lighting for QT?

I am planning on treating my BTA with cipro in my QT. The question I have is what cheap lighting can I get away with? My QT is a 13 gallon (cheap kit from Petco). I was looking at LED flood lights from Home Depot. Something like a 5000k Par38 90-120w. Would that be enough or do I need some actinic light of some sort?

Also, do I need to acclimate the BTA to the LED if its currently under a power compact unit?

I've read in some threads that the LED flood lights worked well for a QT light but just want to be sure.

I asked this question a couple months ago, and the light really depended on what I was going to keep in QT. I needed purchasing the small Radion, as I knew I would be QT'ing corals for a couple moths plus the Anemone was coming. I did not find a cheaper solution like Hardware store lights or anything.

Thanks for the response. The nem was in really bad shape so I made the move last night to the QT. I'm treating with Cipro and I bought the hardware store light. Didn't have much choice. If its a huge issue, I'll put my DT light fixture over the QT. Its a Phillips 100w PAR38 5000k flood light. I was afraid if I didn't make the move yesterday, I'd have nem soup in my DT today. When I got home from work yesterday, he was tucked under a base rock in the rear corner of the tank. Bad shape.

I really hope he pulls through.

I don't blame you moving it to the QT. If it's hiding from the light, try moving your light further from the tank. Also, when I QT'd my nem I was changing water almost twice a day, whenever the water got cloudy , plus ammonia would build to testable levels in less than 24 hours.

Wow, good to know, thanks. I plan on changing the water in the morning. He looked better when I got home before. This was after having the light on for 6 hours.

Did you do 100% water change or 50%? I've read both on the treatment sticky.

I did 100% changes on my 10g hospital tank. I should tell you that this is my first Nem, and there may be more experienced Anemone keepers who have different thoughts. Im just sharing with you my experience, and it's turned out ok so far.

Its appreciated. There maybe more experienced people but none of them answered, so here we are. Its my first nem as well.

Any light is OK. PC twisted bulbs are OK. LED are OK. I would not use halogen light. Put out too much heat and the spectrum is not right. 100W equivalent is OK but 100 W light is too much

Its 100w equivalent. Thank you for weighing in, Orion. I have read a lot of your posts and stickies regarding treatment.

I'm really hoping it works. I fear I may have waited too long to treat.
