I have a 4ft 6in x 24in x 24in tank with a small bank of corals at the back that will live without MH. I wish to keep a volitans lionfish, which I've done previously in a non-reef tank using standard fluoro lighting.
I'm considering using only 2 x 54w T5 fluoros (e.g. 1 x 10,000K and 1 x actinic). I'm hoping to keep the corals satisfied with this combination.
I'm mainly concerned about not having lighting too strong, given that lionfishs' eyes may be affected by this. There are a couple of ledges large enough for a 10in volitans to shelter under, but they do like to hang around in mid-water under full lighting -- which, of course, is where I prefer them to be.
Is anyone able to comment on this combination of lighting, please?
