Lighting for Yuma

I have been struggling to keep Yuma while I have no problem with Florida Ricordea. I have a mixed reef with LPS, zoas and ricordea. Tank is a year old and parameters are good with only a slightly elevated NO3 (2.5) being of any concern for an LPS and soft tank. I am running 540w of T5 in a 24" deep tank. 10 bulb T5 VHO light. I was running them so that all 10 were on between 10am and 6pm. Between 6am and 10am and between 6pm and 9pm I was running half of the lights. For bulbs I am running 5 blue actinic, 2 Fiji purple, 2 10k and a 6,500. Most ofthe zoos and ricordea including Yuma were at the top of my aquascaping with the LPS in the sand.

My Yumas would slowly melt away. Too much light? Wheredo you all keep your Yumas?

From what I gather about your lighting scheudle, you're running the lights for a total of 15hrs per day. That is a bit much IMO as most reefers run their lights in the range of 8-10hpd. If I had to venture a guess about why the yuma's don't live it's because they're getting too much light. They usually like less PAR and do well in the lower 1/2 of the tank or in more shaded area if it's up near the top.

Lights are on to long
and yuma's like mature, fairly clean, taken of tank they sit up there with sps as far as care goes. So dont htink you can go get a yuma and plop it in like a shroom and expect it to take off as it is a totally diffrent animal.
now there are yuma's that are easier to deal with the neon green yuma and pruple yuma's are very easy to care for as the pink red and blue's are among the harder ones to keep true colors on never mind keep alive. good luck
.
Edit: after reading it over once more try putting them lower down seems you frying them with 540 watts in a 24 inch tank that is a good amount of light
