lighting for zoa's

What type bulb/spectrum is best for getting zoanthids to get that eye-popping coloration? Any other advice? thanks!

Wattage depends on the size of your tank. But wattage doesn't matter on the color it's just the amount of light

I hear zoanthids grow good under PC's but i don't like the looks of PC. I have a 250MH over my 29Gal and some my palys look awesome. But some of the lower light ones looks a little bleached going to over them to the side. If you have a 29gal i would recommend the 150 or 175watt halides. I'm also adding VHO's back in the system so with the VHO actinics the color will really come out.

Depends on who you ask. :)

Halides have shimmer, T5s have power advantage, VHOs are often preferred as actinics, etc., etc. Can't really say one is better than the other. They each have their advantages and disadvantages.

Ultimately, decide on what you need and see which technologies will fit that. I think at this point, a lot of people who are heavily into zoos are doing MH and T5 together.
