Lighting height!

I am taking my hood off my tank due to temperature reasons. It's been getting up to 83 during the day. The unfortunately discontinued all the mounts for my model lights. I am going to make my own mount using wood. I have 4 65 watt 10000K compact fluorescent lights and was wondering how high to try to place my lights from the water. I wasn't thinking very high since they aren't extremely powerful. It's a 55gal with live rock about half way up the tank

I would say about 8 inches off the water surface.
