Lighting Help..Kessil A360 Tuna blue made me sick

After waiting months to finally set up my 50gal SCA tank and get everything going, I put my Kessil A360 Tune Blue on two weeks ago and it made me sick to my stomach. I have not been able to even look at the tank when the light is on.

I do have a history with motion sickness so I'm assuming I have some sensitivity to these LED lights. The symptoms were consistent with motion sickness nausea etc... so I will not be able to use the light..

Has anyone else ever had this experience?

When I'm at my LFS I've never had any problems looking at the tanks however I believe they run Radions on most of their tanks.

I'm looking to setup a mixed reef...so I'm open to suggestions to replace the Kessil A360.

I currently have a AquaticLife 24' T5 LED hybrid
2 Blue
1 Coral Plus
1 Purple

The "shimmer" caused by point source lighting like the A360 and the ripples of the tank surface can certainly cause issues like that in some..
You would want to go with non-led light sources (non-point source) or one that has the LEDs spread out to minimize shimmer effect..

And real reason you want to not use the t5 setup you have?

I still want to use the AquaticLife T5 hybrid light. I'm just wondering which LED I should try next and if anyone else has had this same issue.

OP.....YOU NEED TO READ THIS:

There are people who suffer from light-sensitivity.

Lead singer of Styx (80s rock band -ya know 'Come Sail Away"), Dennis DeYoung QUIT the band Styx bc he couldn't handle the lighting on stage on their world rock tours....

Wikipedia:
DeYoung's physical health took a sudden turn for the worse; DeYoung said he was afflicted with a chronic fatigue syndrome-like disorder that affected his trigeminal nerve, and that he would not be able to perform onstage due to a sensitivity to bright light and sound caused by this disorder.

You might wanna have this checked out by an Neurologist to see if you have any nerve disorders that may affect you later in life....

I second NO3's suggestion of seeing a nuerologist as it can be a sign of bigger health issues.

To the original question, you can get light diffusers for some lights, or make one yourself. Over on Nano Reeeeeef there is a thread where someone built a custom diffuser really easily for their AI Hydra light which has some pretty heavy shimmer effect.

I have a glass top on my tank and my AI prime HD, which normally has a TON of shimmer on bare water, gets diffused quite a bit.

Why even try LED?...They all for the most part have the potential to cause these episodes in you...

The shimmer on the Kessil is intense, especially towards the bluer spectrum. The shimmer on the Radions is not as intense and then the diffusers turn the shimmer down a lot more.

Surface agitation can also intensify the shimmer.
