I want to move to L.E.D. lighting. So if anyone is using them, could you give me your opinion. Also would like to know the formula for getting the proper amount of light.
L.E.D.'s are a great move. You have better control of fine tuning the color your tank is looking for.
There are may good options out there such as ai hydra 52, ecotech radion. It really all depends on how much you would like to spend. The sky is the limit.
Me personally I have ai hydra 52.
Now depending on the size of tank you are looking to get these lights for will depend on how many fixtures you may or may not require
As far as the light program goes my will be different then yours it anyone elses. It really all depends on what your corals like. They will tell you if they are happy or not. And I believe it depends on the light that you get cause different brands have different optical lens some may have a 80° lens others may have a 90° lens.
I was also gonna make the switch to l.e.d lighting just wanted to know how many fixtures I needed I was looking into the hydra 52 my tank is 42 gallons and about 48in wide. Would more be better or worse in the case with the hydras?
Me personally going back to T5’s soon!! I have a full spectrum LED fixture (3yrs old) hanging 25 inches from sandbed and don’t like the pale look on my corals vs when I had MH or T5’s.. The blue makes everything POP and love the look!! My SPS did very well with LEDS but softies and zoas-palys are lacking color..
Look into these fixtures also and I’m sure you will find many threads here regarding this product.. You can also customize the layout to match other fixtures
Please before you buy any high priced reef products.. Make sure it’s something you want to do and in it for the long haul!! Seen to many reefers leave this hobby and end up taking a hit
