Lighting on a 29g tank

I have a standard size 29g tank with a dsb and I have 185w of CF on this tank. With the dsb the tank is only 13" to 14" deep.

Is this enough light to grow anything?

Is this brighter than 96w of T5 lighting?

What is the most watts of T5 lighting that I could fit on this tank?

Thanks,
Bill

>>>When you say CF do you mean Power compact flourecents.<<<

Yes, CF or PC the same

>>>or you can go with 2-4 t5 but are 24 inches long<<<

So is 96w of T5's brighter than 185w of Power Compact light.

I already have the 185 watts of PC light but I will upgrade if needed. It just seems like 185w PC would be more light than the 96w of HO T5's.

Can someone tell me if this is right?

If possible I would rather not get the MH lamp because of the heat issues.

Thanks,
Bill

You are fine with the PCs. The 4-24 watt T-5s are no brighter. The MH on a 29 is a tank heater. I have 3 -65watt PC over a 37 gallon with a DSB. The bottom is about 18" down and my coral are doing great. R

Thanks for the help,

I was wanting to put T5's on this tank but it seemed that the max I could get on my 29g tank was 96w unless they were overdriven. So since I had and could fit the PC's with 185w's it seemed that it would be more light than the 94w's of T5 lighting.

I have a 29 gallon tank with the 175 reefsun MH from hamilton with a 10k. I have had no heat issues, and all the corals are much more happy. I had power compact prior to the upgrade. I get a lot more growth with MH!!
