lighting opinions

your choice- 250s will get the job done, but with 400s you can put anything anywhere that likes high light. but, more heat and more enrgy used, so there is a tradeoff.

with 400's will I need to worry about to much light? I've read that many corals are light sensitive....?

What else do you want to put in the tank.

Most clams require "high" lights. If you want them, you'll have to keep other corals that also can utilize high lights, i.e., SPS.

Build your aquascaping with caves, overhangs for low light corals.

250W will be plently (250w x 2).
