so im looking to have/create the most colorful corals i possibly can - in this article they show different corals under different nm and how it affects its fluorescent proteins -

but what i dont see is anything in the "white " spectrum nothing really above 600-700 nm so is white light really necessary if i ONLY have coral no fish or do fish really need the white light i was thinking of just have anthias maybe some pipe fish -

I'm not sure I understand your question.

Are you planing to make your own led fixture?

Are you saying that white light is above 600-700nm?

The typical definition of white light is the inclusion of everything from about 400nm UV-violet through 700nm red -infra-red. I'm not saying that white leds cover that range, just that that is what most people think of when it comes to the spectrum of white light.

Unless you plan to use a lot of leds of different spectrum how do you intend to cover the range you want i.e. 400nm to 600nm? Or are you OK with gaps in the spectrum you can't get in leds?
