Lighting Question - VHO

Hey all...

I need 4 new bulbs for my tank.

Right now I have 4 x 48" VHO right now (2 Super Actinic and 2 Actinic White). I had some issues with a hard green algae that grew on my glass before and I was wondering if it could have had something to do with the spectrum I was using.

Anyway...anyone have any recommendations for me going forward?

If it's hard and green it is probably corraline algae... but I dont think anyone can tell you whether or not light spectrum has an affect

I have heard that it could be corraline, but this is nothing like the pink stuff, it grown much different...

The pink stuff seems to grow from a centerpoint outward (kind of circular) - this does not do the same thing...

There are many different types of coraline algea out there. some of my purple coraline grows from the center some grows in like a sheet. there are also many different colors, but most people can only keep the purplish pink and the green colors.

It is very peculiar...I have only seen it in a few tanks. One thing I have noticed in common with the tanks I have seen it on is they used a blue background. I wonder if something about the blue makes it easier for it to thrive...not sure...

Anyway, I think I should go with 2 Aquasun (100% white 10k bulbs) and 2 Super Actinic (100% blue)
