Lighting Question.

I am setting up a 90 gallon fowlr system. I recognize a standard fluorescent bulb would be more than sufficient to run such a system. It would also help with the electric bill. However, I am more into the lighting for aesthetics over anything. I was looking into the AquaticLife T-5 HO fixture. Quite a bit of light for a fowlr I understand. The conundrum I am faced with though and real question belies will it cause a massive algae bloom? I don't want to pull out my hair because of nuisance algae. If I do go this route I have the option of hanging it. Would hanging it 8-12" above the tank cut some of the intensity of light to reduce such algae from blooming? I will be also running a UV to help with parasites that fish may bring into the tank. Will a UV also help with algae such as single cell? Thanks

The uv wont help with algae. Algae is caused by too many nutrients in the water. if your water is dirty it wont matter what lighting you have. you will have algae.
