alright here is my problem, I have a 37 gallon column tank I started out with a current nova extreme pro 20 inch 6x18w t5 ho, i have a zoa rock on the sand about 22 inches from the top of the tank. I got a new light a current sundial 150w mh with 2 34w actnic pc. now my zoa's seem to be reaching for light but have had a better growth rate along with all my corals, is there anyway the t-5's were putting out more light than my new light?

Sure, its possible. Depending on the bulbs used the T5 setup could have produced more par. How high do you have the halide fixture? You should not be spilling light over the edge of the aquarium or you will loose a lot.

What bulbs are you using for both fixtures?
