Lighting question

I don't post here often but i couldn't resist on this post..great post Guy this was my entertainment while waiting for my flight to board. [emoji4] not here to bash any one or their equipment but you should really listen to what others say instead of trying to prove yourself right. Success only comes with patience and trial and error. Soon you'll realize your errors and I hope you learn from this like I did [emoji1]
happy reefing

Thanks salty. I know the limitations of my lighting. And I'm not trying to prove. Just state that I did have coral growth with lights people said I wouldn't. It was info, people get mad when they are wrong. I know to have a fully stocked tank those lights will come short. But maybe telling people (who might be on a tight budget) that cheaper lights won't work is a disservice to the community. Because people can enjoy a tank on a budget.

But calling someone's purchase fairy lights, at the time it was what I could afford, and comments about brownest tank, and being a goof doesn't help right? Then saying something about my job being serving fries. What if that was my job, what if that's someone else's job on here and your bashing them. No one cares because they are Internet pussies, that wouldn't say a peep in person. Either way the clowns on here will always have there backs up when their views are challenged. It's an ego thing, and I can tell by the effort put out in the responses I got under their skin. Which is awesome, because I'm laughing about it.

I'm glad I provided ample entertainment. But in the end they were simply wrong. I did get coral growth and kept acro. I like all sides of the coin. People say I don't take advice, I took all I can.

Bashing people........this thread started out well with people trying to help and offering you advice. Then it went quiet for 3 months before you came back with an unprovoked attack on one of the members here. After that your comments got more and more childish when all people were asking for was proof or PAR readings from this 'amazing' light of yours.

Now i have been able to keep several corals under the fluval light. When people have said I wouldn't be able too (the snobby people at the high end LFS

Reading back at this post. Looking at what "redwhiteandblue" wrote about my lights being crap and wouldn't grow anything.

Well sir you couldn't have been more wrong. I've had great growth with all my corals. Guess those snobby people and people like you give crap info to people.

Reading is not your strong point is it kenpau? Lol

Anyway. I love my fairy lights as you call them, loving the tap water, and loving my coral growth. Have a good day kenpew kenpaw kungpowchicken

You guys are pathetic lol to stupid to listen

I'm laughing at you people. God love the Internet and the stupid people on here

Listen you clown. What amazing colonies? It's a new tank started from frags. Guess you're dumber than everyone else. And angry lol you ok bro? Need a hug? Shoulder to cry on? It's a fish form and you come out blazing lol you must have a small penis

The problem is when you make comments like these, no one takes you seriously. You are making claims that go against everything we have learnt about keeping difficult to keep corals. By suggesting you are getting amazing growth from Acropora with very low power lighting and tap water you are basically rewriting the rule book, you didn't get peoples backs up, people asked for evidence, which instead of providing you just threw a string of childish comments out.

But maybe telling people (who might be on a tight budget) that cheaper lights won't work is a disservice to the community. Because people can enjoy a tank on a budget.

People CAN enjoy a tank on a budget, however do you see the disservice you are doing? Someone who is on a tight budget and really wants to keep Acropora reads your post, and for some reason takes it seriously; they then go out and spend $250 on this 'amazing' light you're recommending believing it grows any coral they can put into the tank. 3 months later, no growth and dying corals.
You can grow corals with cheaper lighting, but you will find either proof of that on here using before and after shots, PAR readings or from a lot of people backing up the claims by saying the same thing.
All you have providing are pictures of browned out corals, a tank with little to no coral in it and a string of insults.

Anyway. Take what I said or don't. Don't care. Pls go enjoy life and don't worry about this threat. Have a good day kenpau.

That's my new life goal, is to prove to kenpau that my lights do grow stuff. I'm going to put on hold everything just so I will be victorious.

WOW..

Awesome gorgeous tank. I Want to welcome you to REEF Central and thank you for showing me your awesome tank and how much of a FOOL I AM ..

I am such a fool because I Spend so much money on my 3 250 w m/h lighting system with 4 t5 actinic bulbs.. NOT to mention the way They make my Electric meter spin while the chiller is running . Sucking even more money from my Purse....

Thank you so much...... I will go buy me a 34w light and tear my system apart and do it your way...........

On a Serious note. Lighten up. You come in here asking for opinions and when you get them you mock everyone... This is Considered Trolling Kinda Like i have just done in this . Award winning Lighting informational Thread worthy of Reef Tank OF the Decide

Thank you again .. I may now be able to pay off my home in 5 months instead of 2 more years.........

Thanks again Erica Renee the Marine Aquarium Dummy :love2:

Awesome, I'd really appreciate that. By giving more information on your success you can really help people on here and potentially save people a lot of money on high end lighting and RODI units. Can't wait to read your tank blog!

Since I have both the MarsAqua and the Fluval (in additions to 30+ other lights from MH, t5 to LED), I think I can give a little advice here to the original poster.
Despite the 35w low power rating, the Fluval is not really that bad for growing coral, I can use it to grow montipora digi at 12 inch depth and it is doing its job fine.
The trick is that the LED chips in the Fluval fixture is higher quality and they are low wattage LED. There are over 200 of them IIRC. Low wattage LED is significantly more efficient than high wattage LED. I will say it is about 2/3 of light output compare to Marsaqua at 105w. Marsaqua use their in house chips and they are not as efficient as the chips in Fluval.

Well that's a smarter way of explaining it lol. Thanks dz. so the Mars Aqua are 1/3 better. Hmmmm I know I can get two of them maybe that will be more efficient

I have a friend whom I trade with often, he runs one Mars Aqua light on his 37 gallon and has had good success. He doesn't like acro so I don't have any basis to judge how well they work for harder to keep corals, But all his other stuff is growing like weeds. Reason he bought them is his best friend who's been in the hobby and business for 20 years, has them on one of his many tanks and loves them. (I understand this will have zero credibility here)
