Lighting Question!!

Do I need actinics with metal halide lights? I'm sure they can't hurt, but is it a necessity??

I'm putting the hood together right now and I want to know if I should bother puttin the actinics in it!

Kinda depends on what color you prefer, and what temp bulbs you are running. The corals do not need them, they are for our pleasure only!

They do help make the colors "pop" a bit though....

there is some evidence that zoas really like actinic light, but what BOTR said is pretty much right on ... they definately make corals more attractive.

Plus it helps with the sun up/down effect if you like.
