Lighting question

I am considering for the future to try a clam....

First of all I would like to know if this lighting would meet the basic requirements or if i would need to upgrade first.

I have one of those new 36" Tek-Light with T5 bulbs.
2x39 watt ATI Pure Actinic
2x39 watt ATI Sun 6000K

My tank is not very deep, only 16" or about 14" to sand.

Just curious what opinions are

Thanks,

Chris

A derasa, squamosa or hippopus would be great under that lighting. I wouldn't put a crocea or maxima under that. Too little light intensity and too far from the lights.

Try one of the above mentioned clams...they can be quite hardy and make good "beginner" clams :)

There are some people that are keeping maximas under T5's.
I don't have have any experience with them but you can do a search.

Yep, I would just be concerned with the depth and only 4 bulbs for a maxima or crocea. Start out with a Squamosa or Derasa...they would be just fine! :)
