I currently run 65w PCs for my 29gallon, 1 10K and 1 actinic. Was wondering what fellow hobbyists would think of running a 10K and a 50/50 bulb instead of a bulb that was just actinic? like have my morning and evening light be a 50/50? any opinions? suggestions? just wondering if having more of a brighter light like 10k would be beneficial than just 1 light straight 10k? make sense? hope I have not confused anybody. comments are appreciated.

I'd recommend that you bag the actinic and get a 50/50 to replace it. Assuming...because you don't mention it...that you intend to keep coral it does make sense because you'd get enhanced PAR value from that kind of a change in you're lighting and that would benefit most coral that you'd keep.

I haven't had any problems keeping the corals listed in my 'sig' with pc lighting. I use a dual 92watt fixture with a 10k and 03 actinic bulb. ;)

currently in my tank I house a small head of frogspawn, a candy cane coral that currently has 16 heads on it, some small some large, some xenia and zoanthids. I was thinking that the corals would benefit from the brighter light of the 10K rather than the actinic light.

From what I understand, someone correct me if I am wrong. Actinic light is basically your lighting from 5- till dusk. This is basically evening light for your fish and coral. If you get 50/50 bulbs, which takes care of the whole cycle till you get to the moon lights. It’s nicer to have a gradual change 10k's to actinic to moonlights but that does get expensive and require a fair amount of space. So, with that said I would go with the 50/50 since you don’t have the room to do the whole cycle. This is just my opinion. It might not mean much.
