i have 3, 150w double ended halide 10000k bulbs in my outer orbit fixture. i have a 125 reef tank, when i got replacements could i get 250w 14000k bulbs?
you can change the kelvin but you need to stay with the same wattage the ballast is rated at. You indicated you currently have 150w and want to use 250w, maybe this was a typo.
the 14ks will give you more color, the 10ks will provide more growth
The ballast that powers your fixture is rated for 150w. It will will either not fire the 250 bulbs, or fire them at such a low power that they will appear an ugly yellow. The other issue is that the sockets for a 150w bulb are smaller then that for a 250w.
