Lighting Question

I have been doing my research pertaining to keeping anenomes and had a quick question concerning the required lighting for my setup. Right now i have a 29 gallon FOWLR with a pair of ocellaris clowns. Eventually i would like to get an anenome and the only real question i have is what would be the required lighting for my tank? Also, would i be able to keep my light fixtures and just buy compatable bulbs? I have just the normal flourescent fixtures. My tank is approximately 24" deep so i am assuming i would need more powerful bulbs to reach down that far. Any help would be appreciated!!!

What type of fixture do you have? What is your wattage? More than likely you need more intense lighting for anemones. Bulbs alone won't do it, you have to upgrade the fixture. T5's or MH. 150 watts. IMO

i have just the normal light fixtures that came with the setup. I'm really not sure what the wattage is, just trying to get a ballpark as to what i'm going to need when i'm ready to take on the challenge. Thanks for your reply!!!

+1.. new fixture, new bulbs..

4 T5 Ho or 150W halide is what your lookinh for. Make sure the T5HO has individual reflectors for each bulb.

agreed with nikon, you'll want a new fixture, and there are a lot of good solutions with T5 and MH bulbs.

You will have to also decide if you want a sand dwelling or rock dwelling anemone, and then what type of anemone that falls into either one of those categories. Different anemone have different light requirements (( along with flow )).

Also, do you want a full fixture or a retro. 29's being 30 inches long will limit your choices. I personally have a Current Sunpod over mine. 250 watt DE. Have kept LTAs in there and currently have a Haddoni in there.

Another factor will be the size of the anemone, some will get too big for a 29.
