Lighting questions

i just purchased a 55g tank and now have a few fish in it and id like to get some high intensity lights so taht i could start puttin in some coral and get my clowns and anemone

what kind of lights would be best? i need all the help i can get im lost with all these light types

Well, you've got two to choose from really, Metal Halide and t5's.

There's a few T5 threads on here, you should read through those.
MH's have been the standard for years, you can keep anything under them.

My advice is to read, read, and read, but make sure you spend the money up front. You'll regret it if you skimp now.

just go with some halides. a 2x175w setup running some elctronic ballast firing a pair of 14k iwasakis would be a great start, give you great color, great par, and shimmer lines.
