I moved my tank about 7 weeks ago. In that time, a lot of coral browned out as one would expect. Corals are mostly healthy and growing, however, I'm trying to determine why my coral appear slightly pale. I had this same issue several years ago and determined with help for this board, that low nutrient levels were the cause. I didn't have any fish at that time, just coral. Fast forward and I'm having the same issue. They still may be recovering from the move, but I don't think that's likely in this case as the growth they are displaying is pretty significant. Nutrient wise, my phosphate measures 0.009 which is fairly low, but I also get a dusting of glass algae every 1-3 days. Usually by day 2 or 3 it needs cleaning. I also have tiny filamentous alga on the sand in very select locations (lower flow), buts it's almost unnoticeable.
I'm wondering if my ligting schedule is too much and causing the lighter coloration. I have a 2' Giesseman Infiniti, which has 2x 24 watt ATI Blue Plus bulbs, 2x 24 watt Coral Plus bulbs, and 1x 175 watt Radium bulb.
This is over a 2' by 2' ' 20" 50 gallon cube, approximately 8-8" above he water. B+ is on 15 hours, c+ is on 11, halide is on 7.
