Lighting suggestion on a 29gal

Alrite,i have about 400 bucks to spend on upgrading my lights. I'm currently running 130w CSL PC but i want to keep some clams and acros. so i have to get MH w/PC or MH/VHO.
i did browse thru the web site numerous time but still cant decide which to get. The lenght of my tank is 30" and the pendent is 16L. The complete hood system is just way too much for me.

Hi,

If you do not want a full hood system, i would probably look at the PFO/Icecap pendants that have the 2x28watt PC's. So you could get halide and PC actinics. I would recommend 250watt or higher if you want to keep sps and clams. 250watt is nice for mixture of corals. So that would be one option, if you want 250watt with a 10K ushio and 28watt true actinics, would run you $429.75, if you went Coralife bulb would be $394.75.

The next option would be on of WonBrothers halide/T5 hood, it's 24" long, they have a 250watt with 14K hqi DE bulb and T5 actinics for $549.95, that would be a pretty slick setup.

Then your cheapest option would be getting just a single pendant with halide only. You could go single end ice/pfo pendant, or DE (double end) hqi mini pendant, sunlight or pfo brand. Then would be a bigger discussion on which bulb to use.

That's no problem, that is a nice hood. Just expensive. We had just got in an AquaMedic 250watt DE mini pendant and 20K Aqualine bulb complete with hanger for only 259 bucks too.

Oh well, you'll like that Geisman.
