Lighting suggestions for an 8g

Nice moondoggy, thanks for the Kessil info.
Any particular reasons for the prime, I'd like to hear more reasons for different lights? It is very interesting. Thanks guys.

I have a question about the tide Smatter, what is the difference between having 2 dimmable channels and 4 dimmable channels. I'm thinking that the 2 channel controls the intensity of white and blue and the 4 channel will control blue, white, red and green? Or am I totally wrong ha. Thanks.

The difference between the Tide and Tide plus is that on the plus the violet and blue/cyan are on their own channels. On the Tide the the white/lime/violet are one channel and royal blue/blue/cyan are the other. I have the Duo plus m and am glad I went that route because I like to crank up the violets.

I found the AI Prime HD and I hooked it up. One thing about the AI Prime they are not just plug in and work they have to be hooked up to the WiFi my son did through my Mac the phone app is faster to hook up. Second this light is powerful you could not go into the kitchen when it was on. The fan is louder that the Kassil's kinda of a hush fan like a silent fan in the bathroom with the door almost fully closed. Not loud or annoying, the kessil is quieter though.

The Kessil can be plug and play, two knobs to turn easy peasy, I haven't done the math on the lights so that will be of course your decision.

Have you seen any reviews on the Kessil A80? no fan. 4 great options.

Yes I have read and seen a few reviews on the A80. The thing I like about it is there is no fan but I am worried about component and LED longevity. It hasn't been out long enough to know if a year down the line components on the circuit board start going bad due to over heating.

I appreciate you testing out the AI prime and coming back with a review of it first hand.

I am an AI fan too.

It has more power than you need, but it can be dimmed to meet the exact needs of your 8G (I had mine over a 10g for a while). The controller is free and gives provision for setting each color channel to its own level, and it can be set to follow a curve that ramps up in the morning, then down in the evening like the sun. And its price point is arguably the best in the industry for a light in its class. :)

Thanks for the information DB. Do you know how many channels the light has. I can't find it in their specs on the web.

So all those colors are independent in their intesty ability. That is cool. Thanks for the info.

Yep. Pritty kool, huh? And they can be plotted over time. Here's the curve I have on my tank. Each lime represents a specific color channel. The Y axis is intensity. The X axis is time:

Well after much deliberation I went with the Prime. Thank you all for your inputs and suggestions I appreciate the assistance.

Moondoggy ...
And provide control without buying additional hardware/software that can be as much or more than the light, IMHO.
