Lighting Suggestions

Hello again everyone!
Ok, I'm still working on my 90g and will update that thread shortly, I also have my 29g biocube set up and looking good if I do say so myself. :fun4:
I'll post pictures of that tank tomorrow after the lights come back on. But, I am once again stuck on my 56g that I am setting up. It is 36" long and I am trying to decide what type of lighting would be best. I don't plan on putting a lot of corals in this tank, since I plan on having my puffers and a butterflyfish. Anyone have any affordable suggestions?

May be able to get away with a single metal halide bulb. I'd either do that or 4 retro T5s. Do you have a canopy on this tank?

I do have a canopy, but I don't like it.

If you limit the corals to softies, pc would be less expensive and fine for fish

That's what I was thinking. I'll have the 90g for all the corals that I might want that need better lighting so I should be able to hold myself in check on this tank. :spin3:
I've also been looking at the Marineland double bright LED system. I'm not thrilled about the fact you can't run the blues separate from the whites, but since it will be in my room, I can just flick the switch when I get up.

If I could suggest I just got a aquatic life t5 48" setup and love it I believe it comes in 36" also. It has the timers built into it with only a single power cord coming of the back. It really cleaned up my tank and very easy to program.

A nova extreme 4 bulb T5 or TEK t5 4 bulb would be great. You'd have the option for coral if you decide to switch and have all the color benefits of T5 bulb combos. I'm sure you could track down a used one pretty easily.

I've been looking at the aquatic life lights, they are really nice, but a bit expensive at the moment.

I've looked at the nova extreme's too. When I wasn't sure I was going to set this tank up, there were a lot of 36" lights for sale, but now that I am sure, I can't find a decent one anywhere! :lolspin:

Are you watching the seller forums on RC and Dfw

Yeah, but I don't want a MH and right now they are what's for sale. There are also a lot of 48" lights, but once again, won't work. :hammer:
Watch, as soon as I resign myself to buying a new expensive light, the market will be flooded with 36" fixtures again! :rolleye1:
