Lighting upgrade acclimation proceedure

Upgrade from 150w MH and PC to 250w MH and T-5. I moved the fixture from 7" off the water to 14" and have eggcrate over the tank as well as 2 layers of window screening. The tank "looks" a little dark. Am I overdoing this or does this sound about right? I don't want to burn anything, but I don't want it starved of light either. How long should this proceedure tank to let the bulbs burn in, remove screening and get the light lowered? Thanks all!

I don't think you need lights 14' off since you have eggcrate also.
How are your corals reacting to this light?
I would slowly start to lower lights, like 2" increments every 5 days or so.
You should be able to notice if corals stress from light.

Everything seems very happy. I also should mention I also changed from 10k bulbs to 20k MH and the T-5's are 11k aquablue +.
