Lighting wattage question

I have been running a 125G tank with standard dimensions on 2 400W 20k MH and a 250W 14k MH lights. I have a chance to get a better ballast system for the tank but it is for 3 175W MH lights. My questions is will that be enough light for the tank. My reflectors at the moment are crappy and I will have to either make some, as I found the pattern here on RC awhile back, or purchase some. My live stock is and will be mixed reef with some sps.

Let me know what you think and thanks in advance.

And I know this is a 2nd post I am looking for advice before the deal is gone.

i think either would be fine the old is about 8wpg and the new would be about 5wpg ,,,,i think i would go with the light that is the best quality not quanity

if it is a long tank go with the 3 metal halides
If it is a high tank go with the 2 400 watts
