Lighting Website Updates

I have a pair that I'm not currently using. I was bleaching a bit and decided to go with xm20k's. Since the xm20's are tried and true to work, I don't want to try the ebay ones until my caps recover. I did plug them in and check though. They appear brighter than the xm20's and maybe at a slightly lower kelvin, maybe 15-16,000k. My xm10's were on magnetic ballasts as well and those come out about 11,000k on the test website. I'll try them out better after the caps recover in case the corals start to suffer from lack of a broad enough spectral output then I'll know it was the bulbs. The color of the greatdel 20,000K bulbs are pretty nice though if they have decent output. Even if they are 6 month bulbs, 20 bucks a year is a huge savings.

Hello Sanjay , I am now running a 175W M57 ballast with a Blueline 14K lamp . I like the blue look this lamp gives off but I assume the par is in the dumps since the 250W 10K+ not the superwhite blueline is only rated at 33 on a M58
I think Blueline renamed this lamp the 14K now
Since you did not rate the 175W Blueline is it safe to say I will get much better par from a XM 20K 175W with my M57 since when the 250W compare the XM to the blueline is 73 to 33 on a m58?
Thanks

The XM 175W 20K may be your best choice if you like the blue look.

Should I expect much better par & groth since the XM20K 175w gets a 51 PPFD and the Blueline is only 33 PFD for a 250 W

Just spoke to the USIHO gentleman here at MACNA in pittsburght and he said his bulbs have an avaerga life span of 6000 to 8000 hours. That is about 2 years of 8 hours a day. $75 dollars for the lamp 400 watt and it is not to much savings.

Did he say 2 years for quality output? Or until the bulbs go out?

Hello Sanjay
I went to reeflightinginfo.com and looked up Giesemann 10,000k marine bulb with pfo 250w hqi m80 ballast, found ppfd of 88. Did the same for Giesemann coral 13,000k bulb same ballast, it had ppfd of 126. I'M confussed I thought that a bulb of the same manufacture, the one with a lower kelvin would generally have a higher par value.
After further reviewing the web site I went into, all performance data for ballast pfo 250w hqi m80 and found Giesemann 10,000k marine bulb at 129ppfd?
I'm running a 2x250w Double ended Giesemann marine 10,000k and 2x 54atinic ATI bulbs on a Giesemann eco plus fixture m80. Any recommendations on 2x250 d.e. bulbs. Tank size 125 gallon 4x2x2 sps corals. Lighting kept approx. 9 inches from top of water.
Thank You
Kevin

So the results on the blv/hit 150 de 10 k bulbs look pretty good to me. How come no one on here runs these bulbs?

Quick question I now use a Aquactinics 175W MH with 2 t5s on my 54 corner tank -This unit sits right on top of my glass hood.
How much light is lost using a glass hood ?
I also may try to lift the unit a few inches of the glass ,how high should it be

Sanjay - Many pages back you asked for a piece of low iron glass to evaluate as a DE shield. Did you ever get a piece to look at?
