was thinking of upgrading to this fixture any thoughts on this besides cheap? the only thing im worried about and waiting on the seller to respond is the footing wont fit my tank. my tank is measuring across is 48 3/8 inch from end to end at the top and if light is 48 like the corallife i use to have the feet wont make it from end to end to sit on it. and no im not gonna hang it not enough room, materials, and i rent.

stupid light

but thinking about it i may just get a real one (name brand) from swr it will be more but still up in the air of decision

during my search i find lots of combos and it seems almost all brand names carry only 4 bulb combos in the T5HO. i want a six for more par any suggestions?

now im just lost i see a four bulb 216W thats 2 actinics and 2 12K days but normal is 2 10K days and 2 actinics. but a six bulb fixture will still be more with 10K days but wondering if i could get away with the 2 12K four bulb fixture.

I have a 6 bulb 48 inch long, Nova Extreme Pro. Just got it but it seems awesome. Currently have 10k and actinics, but will get some new bulbs soon to enhance the color spectrum and par.

i was looking at that one but i thing i really like was the lunar LEDs and it didnt come with those.

so i think i am gonna go with this light it has what i want and is on a timer as a bonus. anyone use this light or had experience with it?

I would approach Aquatraders with skepticism. I've heard some interesting things with even their new stuff. They are absolutely a low price, but imo, not a good deal.

I was checking out your light choice and noticed the Marineland Deal of the day 6x48" for $266.89. Tek Lights are supposed to be very good.

I have the older Tek light. It is quite nice. I do recommend that you get the fan cooled ones. I'm not sure if all models are. Experiments have been done to show that there is an optimal temp on T5HO. If you get too hot, the intensity goes down by about 20% vs optimal. Not sure the scaling factor, but I do get marked increase in light when I modified my old Tek to cool with a PC fan.

nice i may do that to save money gonna go back and check that out

after looking at it i noticed no fans, and the bulbs dont come with it, and no lunar LEDs. man that wouldve been awesome if it came with those items. no parabolic reflectors, no acrylic protective sheet, no mounting brackets and the ballasts are in the fixture not seperate. almost pushed the buy button but the optional acrylic caught my eye

my current lighting is the Odyssea 4 bulb setup with lunar LEDs. i like it works great but would not recommend for the depth of the 75. on my brothers 55 its awesome and works great. so instead of modifying it to the extreme an upgrade is in order lol. wonder if this would be worth the bucks itll save me at least 200 bucks if the par is equal to the others
HQI thingy

Tek t-5's are nice but it does kinda suck that they dont have acrylic lens or fans..they do have the mounting (hanging cable) brackets and cable with them..I just bought one six months ago..
