finally stepped up and bought a nice compact lighting system, only 260 watts butt should be enough for 75g w mostly live rock and a few softies,


question how should i cycle my lighting on the timer came w blue artinic and 12 day light, and moon lighting. dont want to run to long and have alge problems. thanks

Natural reefs get about 12 hours of light per day, so that's what I try to give my tanks. I don't have an algae problem -- excess nutrients are more of a factor with algae than excess lighting.
My lighting schedule is like this:
-Start with 1/2 hour of just actinic.
-Add daylight lamps for 10 or 11 hours
-Turn off daylights 1/2 before turning off actinic.
-Run moonlights either a few hours at night or all night.
