Lights and covers

Does anyone run their lights without glass covers. I have been running my power compacts 4" off the water surface with no glass. There is a little splash that I clean off the bulbs and reflectors every couple of months.

yea, i dont use a glass over.

Like you said, clean off the salt creep and you'll be alright.

Just make sure you have waterproof endcaps and wires and that no salt h2o gets on your powerstrips/cords. (the salt conducts electricity)

Yea I use waterproof endcaps and all the connections are the top of the relectors. the only thing I think might be a problem is the ballasts are mounted to the back of the canopy right above the overflow and returm, but no water seems to ever get on them.

Why not use the glass?
