Lights Needed

I just set up a 72 bow front tank. I am wanting to keep corals in it as well. I am looking for a good deal on some lights that would work well for that. I have heard many different ideas. Please let me know if you have anything I can use.

Thank You
Jason

Thank you for the offer but I dont have $700 to spend on lights at this time. Wish I did.

If you have any idea how to get good lighting at a cheaper price I would love to hear it.

Also, A DUMB question (I am sure) but hope for a good answer. Am I not able to do the T5's in a regular 48" light strip?

Thank You for your time
Jason

T5HOs are what you want to get the amount of light needed. They require special ballasts and special end caps that prevent them from being used on a regular fluorescent strip. :)

As far as good lighting for cheap, your best bet would be to wait for a good deal. Otherwise you have to pay for good lighting. :)

How much are you wanting to spend?

Brandon is right. The best is to DYI with t5 and save some money even my tek lighting I paid over 425.00 each 8t5s 48" and I worked for sunlight supply too. That was 5yrs ago and I order 10 for my friends and I. I have a 4 48" t5 set up fs but not good for sps it will be good for sorties got go look and see what I have.

Thanks for all your help. I was hoping to spend around $200 or so. IS there anything I can do for good lighting with my regular strip lights till I get the money together for some T5's?

Thanks

You would need a special ballasts and special end caps for t5s or t8s t12 too. That are made those type of bulbs each one are dif.

Save up some more money while you wait on a good deal. No point in buying something you'll only sell 6 months from now. Just ask James. :D

It's hard to get something good for corals for $200 unless you get someone's used lighting retro kit. Are you using it in a canopy??? It's very hard to retro fit anything inside of a bowfront, I can tell you that from a personal experience. I've got a 90 bowfront and I got two retrofit 250w halides in mine. Could I fit something else in there? Not really, but I know when Angela had her's, she had power compact or T-5's in hers along with halides I think if I remembered right. Depending on your Canopy of course, IF I did something like that, I would not be able to work on my tank period unless I remove the canopy completely every time I work on my tank. Unless your going without canopy, then you have more options.... Zef's lighting is very nice if you want to save up for it!!!! :)

to the OP....i seem to remember seeing a thread (lighting forum?) on a 90g corner & somebody posted a pic of their's that had a 24" on each side, (4) 36" staggered in middle & (2) 24" in the back....or something along those lines. it was a TIGHT fit, but damn did it look good

i'll see if i can fing it & post the link here....

**edit** ....i was close, it was (1) 24" in front, (4) 36" & then (3) 24"...all staggered sided to side. it looks PIIIIIMP :)
